Attending and passing of Citizenship test is not needed for persons above 55 years age. Only interviewed is needed only when required otherwise even interview may be waived so my question is did any one in this forum came across a person who has been directly called for oath without an interview.

I believe the interview is necessary to validate identity and desire to become a citizen, so I don't think it can be waived.

The wordings of CIC website says this "
Adult applicants who are 55 years old or older are not required to take the citizenship test.

An interview with a citizenship officer or citizenship judge may also be required. Should this be necessary, you will be notified by mail about the time and place of your interview."
So accordingly it says that interview is required if necessary, therefore I asked the question that is there anyone who has been waived from the interview.

There's always at least a short interview since they have to confirm the person can communicate in one of Canada's official languages.

Actually aged over 55 are allowed a translator, there is no language requirement.

A friend translated for their Mom. So doesn’t have to be a certified one either just one who can speak English and the language in question.

But at a minimum they want to see the person and may check a doc or two. So I don’t see there being a direct to oath from IP/FP. Certainly in all cases I know of on all had doc check/interview :)

Some friends had a situation where the Spouse was over 55 and the husband was not. He sat the test and followed the standard process. She received a FP request, he did not and they both received their Oath invite for the same day. Other than that there was no separate invite for any interview, ID validation was completed through the standard application checks and she handed over her PR card at the Oath ceremony.

Thank you Dr_Midnite for sharing the information, do you mean to say that she directly called for Oath Ceremony without calling her for an interview.

Yes, called for Oath, NO separate interview.
