my friend has been asked to leave immediately because his work permit could get through.

Immediately means immediately or he can wrap and go on cheap ticket in 20 to 25 days.

He lived here for 8 years with legal status.

A few days is normally accepted (up to 30 max?). Note that a deportation is NOT the same as being asked to leave nicely. Deportation is a much more serious issue.

Yes, its not a deportation. He is just asked nicely. So he can go upto 25 days ?
Actually he is very close to federal PR application. He has lmia. But has been asked to apply work permit from outside of canada. Thats why he is going india and applying for work permit. Giving ielts again and increase points in gis profile.
Will he get something from india office? Or its tough?
