Dependent visa for my wife when my P R CEC application in progress

Hi guys,

I want to apply for dependent visa for wife while my PR CEC application is being processed, will there be any problem with her application? i am currently under Open work permit.

Can anyone please share their experience that would be helpful!

No Not yet.

I got married few days back, have all the docs ready to be submitted, Soon I am going to send an email to CIC that I am married.

is there any problem in getting her dependent visa after applying?.

If she is in Canada already then applying for a work permit for her will not be a problem. I am assuming by a dependant visa you meant a work or visitor permit. If she's not in Canada then it will be extremely difficult to get her visa as one condition for a temporary visa is to prove to CIC that you will leave Canada after your visa expires.

@maniac2403 - I am applying for Dependent work visa based on my open work permit - That means work permit made outside Canada. In this she will get her visa stamped to enter Canada and upon arrival she will get her work permit.

Applications used are
1. open work permit form
2. schedule 1 for temporary resident visa - not the the main TRV application form.

@Rinku - in the link you have provided - the case is slightly different there but it is helpful - thanks - in his case he got email from cic after medicals- but i have not got my medicals yet!!

If she is not in Canada, then her work permit based on your WP will most likely not be granted. One important criteria for outside Canada applicants is to convince CIC that one will leave Cabada after permit expires.
