Dependent children and wife visa

Hey guys,

I am on closed work permit visa valid for couple of years , I am planning to bring wife and kids too for that time period . Any one knows what type visa I should be applying and how long that will be valid for . My wife wont be working here , so I may not need a open work permit visa for spouse .

You should apply for a SOWp for your wife even if she isn't working and trv for your children (or student permit). Depending on what province you are in you all may not qualify for health coverage for 6 months.

You should ask for it to coincide with you work permit. The OWP usually matched your closed work permit but the TRV often is just 6 months but if you ask they will extend it for the full time of your work permit. Sometimes CIC does do it on their own but best to ask just in case.
