hi you there, how long to sponsor my son from the Philippines, I am PR holder and now started his application. hope it wont take long, I want to go to Philippines on March for his graduation. thanks!

Hi there,

I assume that your application to sponsor your son is going to be processed at the visa office in Manila? Right now the average processing time for a standard case of dependent child sponsorship is 14 months at Manila. This added to the current time to process your portion (the sponsor's portion), 27 days, will make a total of about 15 months from application to approval.

Hope this helps. If you need any help with immigration matters, please e-mail bmgkgroupco@gmail.com. We are a group with nearly a decade of combined experience in Canadian immigration law, and would be happy to help!

binalik ba sa iyo ang application form mo? kasi malalaman mo naman kung ano mali mo kasi susulatan ka nila. Pinasa ko palang application ko sa CIC-M, just waiting for the SA. make it sure lang na tama yung mga spelling and be consistent sa mga tanong, just read the guides too, it helps.

because I am thinking, dependent child don't have to go background check, right? They are not required to get Police Clearance or NBI, so I am thinking not to take that long. I submitted my application to CIC-M and waiting my SA. thanks

Did you declare that you had a son when you landed in Canada?

Parehas pala tayo AOR palang, after nun SA na, and then ipapasa sa VO Manila. Siguro ibabalik sa iyo kung may kulang, not sure lang din. Ikaw ba ang Applicant or Sponsor?

If your son is under 18 years, he does not have to get a police clearance. However, this fact would not likely make a big difference to the processing time required because final stage matters like clearances are only dealt with near the end of the process, after your application receives approval in principle. Most of the processing time is spent on dealing with whether your application will receive approval in principle.

That said, the processing times given by CIC are only average times for standard cases. I have seen cases take a much shorter time than the average time, if all the documents are complete and correct and no special problems arise. It depends on CIC's workload at the time.

A note about the medical check for your son - medical results are only valid for 1 year. If your son completed his medical exam more than 1 year ago, he will be requested to do it again after your application receives approval in principle.

Hope this helps. If you need help with any immigration matter, please do not hesitate to e-mail bmgkgroupco@gmail.com.
