Hi everyone! My brother will sponsor his 3 y/o child. I believe he should use the Application to sponsor a family member. But, my question is, the baby would be the principal applicant? How should we fill out all of the forms? The baby will be the principal applicant and at the same time, the dependant child?? Please help. Thank you!!

By the way, the mother of the child will not be sponsored because they already broke up and not married.

Yes the child is both the applicant and dependent. But in your case, the child is the main applicant and not listed as dependent on the application as it is meant for the applicant's dependents which the child obviously doesnt have.

Btw; the father still need official approval from the child's mother to leave the country. If the mother doesn't allow it, you can't sponsor the child until the child is 16 or 18, not sure which, when the child doesnt need mother's permission to leave the country.

Thanks, for the reply. The mother agreed with it as long as the baby won't stay for too long here in Canada. Just enough to complete the desired amount of days in 5 years to keep his PR status. If I may ask, what are some important documents that the mother should have? Does she needs a letter approval signed by a lawyer or a legit gov't agency? Thank you!!

A signed notarized document giving permission for child to leave the country to stay with you. That's the most important document. Without that, PR for child wont go anywhere.
