my husband was the one that ordered them, and he is a canadian citizen, living in canada. i was in canada as a visitor when we ordered them, though I don't remember having to disclose that information when we applied for it. we submitted a consent form to release my info.

then, the same consent form is required for both... not meaning to belabor this, but just trying to get a grasp on the difference between the two options - access to information act, and privacy act..., not that I can even order it, but what's the rationale behind limiting the privacy act information, (and who it relates to,) to only those whose feet are touching Canadian soil? Like if my wife was visiting me here, I could then, and only then have access to the "privacy act" collection of information? How convoluted can CIC policy get? ???

i have no idea what the difference is. i was planning to pay the $5, and ordered through the wrong act by mistake. wasn't expecting to get full set of notes, as it was mentioned on this forum it would only be the file from mississauga. i tried to ask around, but no one could really provide an answer...

Oh well, for what it's worth, the "information act" notes do include both Mississauga and Beijing (our case office)

but no specific "relationship" assessment shows up in either, so I take it the "privacy act" notes are in fact more revealing...., maybe it varies from file to unique file..

not necessarily, many people see officer notes in their access to info notes (it's on the last page). i assume if there are no notes from the visa officer in your notes, your file hasn't gotten that far yet. i ordered my notes the week before i was approved, so my file was already nearing completion at that point, and completed when i got them.

the free ones from what I understand, if the applicant is not Canadian, PR or living in Canada you are not entitled to them... The 5.00 notes you can have.

I am Canadian,my husband is the applicant we are both living abord and was not allowed access to the free ones but did recieve the 5.00 notes.

Maybe the only difference is the $5 dollar slap on the wrist :P ;D

that's what i'm guessing as well.

So true!

I probably will not order another set unless another 3 months pass and still haven't gotten anything more from my VO.

Go to the email confirmation you would have received when you requested the notes. Reply to it, with the temporary request # in the subject line.
Just say it's over 30 days since you requested notes and are inquiring on the status of your request. They should reply within 24 hrs (my experience) and either say it will take longer or just forward them to you.

It's been over 30 days since we ordered ATIP via CIC website.......

please share your delay timeline for ATIP delays currently.

ordered: July 19
Due: aug 20th
status: still waiting....

Ordered on June 22 and still waiting....2nd reminder sent.

It's really weird when some can get it in 30 days while others are waiting for almost 2 months or more to receive the notes.

Is it cuz too many people are off on vacation or something at CIC's ATIP office ?

I really think it has to do with the office handling the applications...some (like Beijing) are submitting their information to ATIP, others are not handling their notes as diligently - or so it seems

still waiting for notes. 2nd reminder sent to atip
