Hi guys, so I applied for study permit extension from inside Canada on June 3rd 2024, and up till today being August 6th 2024, it still says on my ircc account were processing your background check we’ll message you if this changes. Also the eligibility review has not started yet.
can someone help me on what to do I also tried calling them they keep saying they busy and can’t connect me to an agent.
Guys I’m really worried as this is my third time reapplying for study permit extension from with Canada I was refused twice !! Please help .

Is there a chance I’ll be approved this third time? They said I didn’t provide a letter from my university that’s why they rejected the second one .. but I indeed attached a letter I just realized I need a different letter and I have attach it to my third application will they still be refusing it?

When does your study permit expire? You are within normal processing times so not much you can do. Assume you included funds, tuition paid etc.

Hi, thank you for the reply.
My original permit expired on April 24th 2024, but since there was a delayed response from Ircc my status expired on June 1st 2024 which was when they replied to me (just note this particular application was submitted since 28th February 2024.) then they told me I could apply for restoration of status and a new permit.
yes I included proof of support and my university provided me a specific letter to upload as well.
When you say normal processing time I’m confused because it says the processing time for that is about 10weeks and it’s past that:((

10 weeks? It is more like 4-6 months.

Omggg really that’s such a long wait time.
But I also want to ask like because they gave me 90days for restoration of status does that mean they’re gonna respond before the end of that or does it mean I would still have to leave Canada regardless after 90 days.. guys I’m just very confused because fall semester also begins very soon I’m in my second year of uni I’m just scared what they will say after all this wait. And they don’t seem to be responsive via phone call.. it’s really draining

So did you restore status and apply for new study permit? You are not extending your permit because it expired.

Yes I know I’m not working nor studying rn and i already explained my situation before. i applied to restore my status about three days after i got my second refusal letter which was on June 3rd 2024 .. I show my proof of support from parents cause im an international student and all receipt for tuition.

All you can do is wait. Because your study permit expired and you had to restore status it can take several months for the process. Don’t say you extended your study permit as you said in the first sentence of your first post. This is a brand new study permit application and will be assessed as such.

If you get through to IRCC you speak with call centre agents and not officers. All they can tell you is the status of your file.

Ow okay thanks a lot, sorry for the wrong info.
But still does it mean I can stay in Canada while I wait for a reply and even after 90 days expire I don’t have to leave till I get a reply?
