DELAYED APPLIC. spousal sponsorship REQUEST OF INFO

Question for everyone:

Once they receive your application, when they request further information, does it delay your application for 3 months or until the deadline they give?? or do they "re-start" the process of the application after the deadline given??

My application status is only "received", it doesn't say it's in progress. I need to know how the request of further information works!! help...

Sometimes they return the entire application in which case the new submission starts at the beginning of the queue. Sometimes they ask for something specific and give you a deadline, in which case getting the form back to them leaves you in your position in the queue. But if they show application received, it's already passed the first check, so you should be ok.
