Hi everyone, I hope someone can help shed some light on this issue. Basically in 2009 I was a first-year student in the U.K and I went out to a students bar party, there was a lot of alcohol involved and I had a fight with someone which ended with me getting arrested and issued with a "simple caution" for "assault occasioning actual bodily harm". It was a silly mistake and I never had any other problems with the law, at anywhere and in any other country I lived in before. I am currently working as a business owner and this happened more than 11 years ago.
CIC is not very clear on deemed rehabilitation I found, I mean they say you "may" or "may not be" rehabilitated, so it's a bit confusing, somethings are just unclear the deeper you dig into the articles. I saw in other threads that some people say that it isn't a problem to have a simple caution if it's more than 10 years old.
Given that it has been so long, can the application be refused on that basis?
I asked a law firm in Canada, and they said I would need a consultation for 300 CAD.
Is there any lawyer here that can provide some advice on this? In 2 weeks time I am expected to have 492 points with the coming ECA and French language test, this is after doing the ECA for a second degree I have. So I am pretty much guaranteed a selection but it worries me a lot this doubt about the simple caution.
Cheers and best of luck to everyone
