Hello,
Me and my wife is a live in caregiver,my wife finish first her 2 years to apply for PR..so she sponsored me...on our landing interview, the immigration officer asked us if we have any other child back in our country,,,,,,I told her that I have one child back there but from another woman but I did put the child on my application...the officer cancelled our interview and she said that they gonna contact us again for the decision,,,,what do you think will happen to our application? Do you think we will be denied or me? Please help us..I told them about the child during that interview...

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

It was mandatory that your child be listed in the PR application. I think you should be expecting a refusal for misrepresentation. If that happens, then the entire application will be refused - not just you.

It's pretty straight forward. The OPs wife applied for PR through the live in caregiver program. The OP has a child with another woman but failed to declare that child in the PR application. At the landing interview, the interviewer asked if they had any children in their home country. The OP admitted to having a child with another woman and the landing interview was then canceled on the stop.

What I do not understand here is the following phrase: "I told her that I have one child back there but from another woman but I did put the child on my application" <-- is it a typo?

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

I did not put the child in my pr application because when I apply for live in caregiver back 2006 she's not born yet,the child was born on 2008 ,then 2009 I left my country to come here in Canada,,,then I met my wife and married her now we have two kids,,,them when we apply for pr I did not know that I need to put my other child,,that is why on the interview I told the officer about that....

Okay then, obviously you had to inform CIC of any changes in your family composition prior to the decision on your case is made.

Now you will either be reported for misrepresentation, or you will be provided instructions on how to include your dependant to the application. Just wait, you can do nothing to it at the moment anyways.

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

Do you how long will it take to have a decision?

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

I told the officer about the child during that interview because I want to tell the truth and I did not intentionally want to hide the information,is just is not clear to me if I will put her since I do not have contact to her and I do not know where she leave,,, can I have a declaration of giving up my right to sponsor the child since I don't where she at now and since then

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

It doesn't matter if you have contact with the child or not - it's still mandatory to list all of your children on the application. There's really nothing you can do at this point but wait to hear from CIC. I expect it will be a few months before you hear anything.

Re: Declaring a undeclared child duting the landing interview

Did the CIC officer take away both copies of your COPR, or did she just refuse to continue the landing interview?

Yes, you can get such declaration from CIC or sign your own one but you will have to wait for their decision now.

. Actually I did not see a copy of our right to permanent resident,,or any paper to sign,
As soon as we told her about the child, she went inside to talk to someone,,and after that she told us that she will cancelled the landing interview.
She checked our open permit too and told us that it's still a year to renew your open permit..because it's expiration is next year.

I want to know if the cic will ask us a explanation about that since we have not explain everything yet to the officer?

It's impossible for any of us to say what will happen. It's entirely possible CIC may refuse your application without asking for an explanation.
