hi, I am preparing my documents for immigration to canada. I have a question here. If the other parent signs the "Declaration from Non-Accompanying Parent/Guardian for Minors IMMIGRATING to Canada", does it mean that i have the full custody of my son in Canada after my application is approved? I am asking coz i saw that in certain occasions i need to obtain the consent of the other parent if i wanna take my kid abroad. but i really do not want to request the signature again. if not, is there any way for me to gain the full custody of the kid in canada? tks a lot!

No - this does not mean that you have full custody of your son. Full custody can only be awarded through the court system. IRCC does not have this power.

I would recommend you speak with a family lawyer once you reach Canada to determine how you would gain full custody of your son from within Canada.

Sure thing. Thanks a lot.
