decision to accompany or not accompany family

I have applied as skilled worker. I have to send complete documents after receiving AOR. In initial application I showed my family as non-accompanying. Now I am considering to accompany with my wife and three children by paying their application fees.
However I am afraid about unemployment there.
What are the minimum monthly expeses of housing, utilities, food etc for a family of five members in Ontario Torronto?
I am IT professional but what is usual monthly salary for a factory worker? Are factory worker etc jobs easily available?
I have to decide to accompany or not accompany wife and three children. I dont want to lose my hard earned savings but I also want immigration for my family.
If some family consume their savings then does Canadian government provide grants etc.

Family of five members:
It really depends what neighbourhood in toronto you want to live, it can be anywhere from $1000/month to $2000/month or higher
Good neighbourhoods are expensive and bad ones are cheaper for obvious reasons, but better keep away from Jane and Finch area, basically not the place to raise family unless you are in the wrong kind of business
Salary for a factory worker is $10.25/hour, they are pretty easily available
Grocery and food $800/month
Sorry buddy Canada will not provide any "grants" just cause your family has spent their savings. If this were the case then over 6 billion of worlds population will be living in Canada today. There is no free lunch you have to work your way up. The only things you'll get free is the air, welcome to Canada

Groceries are so expensive here ..I should admit that. ... I can speak for one with that regard, but believe me, just a few items, the basics and I pay no less than 35$.

In the Netherlands I could buy a whole bunch for that amount in Euro's off course.

One more thing: if you want to find work, any job, perhaps in a factory, you should live in distant suburbs of Toronto, sure you can find a 3 bedroom home for a 800 or 1000 dollars a month, BUT if you need a car and I suppose you need a car, then add a few hundred bucks up to that amount and believe me, your monthly expenses will not be less than 2000$!

Why don't you try other cities? I heard on the radio that smaller cities are now competing with larger cities as to attract professionals or skilled labour like you.

So If I live in suburbs of Torronto then will my children be provided with quality public schools and good public health facilities?
Can a factory worker with $10.25/hr can easily meet both ends of a family of one wife and three children , two of them primary school going , in a rented house of 2 or 3 bedrooms? I want to live for at three years to get immigration.

If I sponsor my family after I come to Canada, Will my family members will also get nationality automatically when I will get after three years ?

This amount is descent and you can to support a family you can always work more hours or overtime for more money or even another job. There are people who work 2 to 3 jobs and work 18 to 20 hours a day

Once you sponsor your family they have to physically stay here 3 years or 1095 days to obtain citizenship. If they physically leave Canada for family visits then days outside Canada will not be counted.

You can go anywhere you want but you have to complete 1095 physical days in Canada, I think this is a very generous day count for someone who wants to become Canadian citizen. After all its only fair if you want to be a Canadian citizen to "physically live" in Canada.

Unfortunately a lot of people are under the wrong impression that once you land in Canada the government will pat you on the back and give you a Canadian passport. Being Canadian is something you have to earn by abiding by the law, to know the history of Canada, to help people, and overall set an example for the next generation of Canadians and non-Canadians

I was under impression that there are normal 5 working days a week and 8 working hours a day. Any more work would be overtime. Is it not?
If it is, then is daily overtime of 4 hours and one extra day in a week is easily available in factories in this unemployment era?

Yes it is and over time can always be negotiated with the manager, different factories have different ways to deal with over time, some give days off others give pay....you'll have to look around

this is just what my husband gets but may be different between companies or each province

8 hours work/day (30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak), 5 days/week = 40 hours/week

work from 6pm-6am there's a night premium, additional $1 for every hour worked

overtime pay (in excess of 8 hours) is 150% of your hourly rate per hour rendered (if reg. hourly rate is $10, overtime rate is $15 per hour rendered)

he has what they call 24 hour overtime. i.e. you work 6pm to 2.30am- regular rate then your next shift is at 2pm to 10.30pm- all 8 hours will be computed using your OT rate of 150% because the next work shift is within 24hours from the previous one, that whole 8 hour shift is considered overtime.

in addition to that, he works 40 hours per week guaranteed but during peak season, he sometimes work 60 to 80 hour work week. when Canadians go on holiday (3weeks per year), there's more work for those left behind, this usually every Christmas, spring break and summer.

apartment in Regina SK costs $939 per month, heat, water and parking included. electricity is $45 per month on the average. (he's not there much because of frequent OT )

for benefits, his company provides Blue Cross health insurance on top of what the province provides. when you reach a set number of hours, you get a $0.50 increase to you hourly rate

This my opinion not an advise or recommendation.

There are lot of other Jobs (My friend got one in Tim Horten's in a month) a new comer center will help you to find. Also you will get few hundred $ as child benefit based on your past 3 years income.

After few months of hardship you will be happy that you did a right thing.

I don't like people making Canada as back door entry for US. Come and live here for 4 to 5 years and get the passport and go to US or go back as Canadian to home or some other place. This country gives a lot to us. We should be thankful and loyal to Canada when we get a Canadian citizenship. There may be other reasons you want to live in other places for a while. But entering Canada for the sole purpose of passport I don't like.

Of course!

The less time you spend outside the country, the more quickly you get to 1095 days in Canada. Duh!

That's why we've been travelling within Canada the past 2 years - one more year to go and my wife can then apply for Citizenship. Can't wait! I miss my yearly trips to EU.

Well I luckily hold an EU passport and am allowed to work and live in all EU countries but sure for jobs and good pays the best are the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Austria.

But I would love to have a Canadian passport because I like this country, but doubt about "passport" issue at times. I was afraid I might not be able to travel back and forth and visit my family and friends anytime I want. 1095 days is really nothing by comparison. In the Netherlands one should live and work for at least 5 years before being eligible to apply for Dutch citizenship and off course you need to learn to speak the language fluently and with no accent or forget good jobs! or perhaps A job at all! ;D

I am Ok. my problem is that nobody hires me, they all tell me you look great, you look fun, wow, this and that, I go to Tim Horton's, don't get a job there, because I look like a fashionista, I go to shops/restaurants, they look at me as if I am some "Angelina Jolie" without a job! that is just not fair!

I just wear jeans and boots and not really different than other people around me, who are sometimes really dressed up, it is perhaps a certain look that makes them feel that this lady isn't going to stay long here! or she ll be overqualified. Sad actually, but I try my best.

Damn if you are soo like A Jolie try the Canadian film industry, try the media, start off with TV ads etc, tons of potential there. You are right no one would take u seriously at Tim Hortons or entry level jobs if you are angelina jolie look like. A small word of advise if you are single be very careful online and outside lol
