Decided to look for work locally. Would really appreciate advice!

Hi,

I have been doing my research and job-hunting online from across the ocean for the past months, with no success.

Since I have not been to Canada at all, I decided to break my savings and head out there to take a chance and to make it a trip.

To maximize my luck and go easy on my finance, I am thinking of staying in one city or town and focus only on job seeking.

It is my understanding that I will be able to stay for up to 6 months on an eTA.

I would really appreciate locals' advice on "Where I should go to look for work"



I am:
- mid 20s
- a native English speaker
- fluent in 3 languages (1 European, 2 Asian / professional standard)
- Bachelor of Music (can perform & teach / have certificates)
- experienced in teaching English as a Second Language (previously employed for 2 years)
- experienced in working with SaaS platforms (previous+current employment)
- currently teaching music privately
- currently working freelance for another SaaS firm

Long story short, I have work experience in teaching music & language and SaaS platforms.

FYI - How long you'll be allowed into Canada is up to the CBSA officer you encounter at the border. You're not guaranteed a six month visit.

You don't say where you are from. Depending on the answer - the Working Holiday Visa may be an option for you. If it is - that would be your best option.

If the working holiday visa is not an option, you'll need an LMIA and a full time job offer before you can apply for a work permit. In that case teaching music is most likely out and you would need to try to find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process for a programming job. This does tend to be very difficult to do since it's difficult to prove no Canadian could be found for such roles (this is a requirement to get an approved LMIA).

Again, knowing where you're from would be helpful.
