Got this reply from OINP yesterday for the query on my application .....

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your inquiry.
Please be advised that our records indicate the file referenced is at the second stage of processing, pending review by an Investigator Analyst.
If there is any further information needed for your application, you will be contacted by our officer.
Please note that if you are in Canada, it is your responsibility to remain in legal status throughout the time while your application is being processed by our program.
Thank you for your patience.

May I ask did you get "your application for fee payment is out of date. As a result, we are unable to process your payment."

What did you do next? Create another new Bank Draft and send to OINP right away (Does that mean I would have CAD$3000 on bank drafts?)?

Or do I wait for OINP to send me my old bank draft to me first then I get a new one?

The old DD can be cancelled in India by submitting an affidavit on INR 500 stamp paper.

I enquired with bank, it will take almost one month if we don't have old Dd.
If we have DD, then it ll take less then a week time.

This is not the case for ICICI bank. I have cancelled my DD and the money was given within a week.

The only point here is that they do take conversion charge as well as the conversion rate nay not exactly be to your liking. Especially if you had made your DD early this year when the CAD was stronger to INR.

That being said, the process involves filling out a form to waive the bank's liability and also asks for an affidavit (format will be given by bank) on a Rs 500/- stamp paper.

IF you don't have old DD, it is considered as lost DD and it involves communicating with Canada bank and after confirmation from them that the DD is not en cashed, they will release your payment. This process may be different for diff banks. It is better to wait for the old DD and the repayments becomes easy.

OINP will send you the previous draft once they get the new one.

No, they will send you the old DD back after you confirm the mailing address. Try sending mail from the same mail ID you receive your AOR and confirm your address.

*Firstly you send a mail from the same email ID you received your AOR to confirm your mailing address.
**Take out a new DD and send them immediately so that your file is not on hold and the processing begins. After all early nomination matters.
***You will get the old Dd back in 15 days and you will have to invest 1500 CAD for that much time+7 days for the repayment done from bank losing some commission money and exchange rate charges in the bargain.

note: buying and selling rates of the bank are different so when they pay you the rate is different and less than what they charge you.
e.g if the rates are 51/53 they will give you 1500 x 51 and for new DD they will charge 1500 x 53 + DD charges
