Hi all, just wanted to update that i got my Citizenship on 3rd November and Applied for Passport a week after. Best of luck to those who are still waiting.
This concludes my Canadian immigration journey.

It is extremely disheartening to see that even after a date being assigned on the file, and now being past that date, my notes still show that the last updates were in March 2025.

I'm right there with you. But think of it this way... We've waited this long and it hasn't negatively impacted our lives, so we will be fine. Having waited this long means we are almost done. Seems like processing times have slowed down across the board for many immigration applications and that's just a reflection of the times. IRCC is probably swamped with having reduced their workforce earlier this year.

No updates for me since May 3rd, almost 7 months now. Last update was for language and physical presence. I am not sure what to do next. Technically i am still within the 13 month processing time, just getting very disheartening not knowing what's going on. but i have a close friend who is in the same boat and their last update was November 2024. I have not reached out a MP yet as i was told there is not much they can do if its still within regular processing time.

Finally an update after 8 months

Applied online on 29 Dec 2024
AOR 10 Jan 2025
Test Completed on 21 Feb
Language, Prohibitions, BCG on April 17th
Wrote numerous emails and got no updates.
Called IRCC on December 3rd and on December 4th, Physical Presence was marked as completed.

Finally, received invitation for oath yesterday (mom's application, she's senior).

Oath is Dec 23 on zoom. She is booked to travel out of Canada on Dec 25. How can she re-enter without PR card? Anyone know?

Very tough! Try to apply the passport the same with one-day service.

I would NOT recommend unless she is prepared to either re-enter by land (USA), be away long enough to get passport abroad (4-6 weeks?), or has a visa waiver passport and prepared to risk it (somewhat) under this program:

Better would be to delay departure by ~ a week. It is possible a temp passport (urgent basis) while abroad could be obtained but also a risk.

My understanding is that when you do the ceremony and receive the citizenship certificate (e-certificate), they warn that it cannot be used to apply for passport for 2-3 days. Hence why I'd suggest at least a week - esp if around holidays when passport offices will be closed at least a few days.

Yeah that's what I figured. I thought maybe there was a way but I guess not.

She also did not receive the email that gives you the instruction on how to download the e-certificate. Will this come later?
