Hi all,
I am member of group waiting for PPR mail ever since.
Meanwhile my medical are about to expire. I had done medical in Dec-19 and in my cic login it says i passed med in Jan 20.
So my question is when medical considered expired. Dec or Jan?

Your GCMS notes will indicate the exact date for medical expiry. It’s the date the results were uploaded onto the system.

If your medicals are about to expire or have expired, medicals have to be valid when you submit the application as well as when you land, IRCC will send your medicals for reassessment to the Regional Medical Officer who will make a determination whether to extend it to ask for remeds.

This is usually done during final review, before PPR is sent.
@legalfalcon Would you be able to advise as to how much time does the Regional Medical Officer generally take to make the determination? Just wanted to understand since I have come across people who got remedical request / automatic extension before expiry and many who waited after expiry for a long time to get such a request.

@legalfalcon thank you very much for your response. One more question please. Is there any condition that may warrant extension of the medical not to be granted despite that medicals had been initially passed. I learnt those who had visited high risk countries in the last 6 months or those from high risk countries are sometimes not granted. Please help to clarify this also. Thanks

There are a couple of factors on which the RMO can ask you for a re-med. The factors are:

Having a B assessment

  • Grade A indicates that there are no abnormal findings present and no significant abnormal history.
  • Grade B indicates that there are significant abnormal findings present and/or an abnormal history.

or a M2 or M3 assessment:

M2 Potential risk to public health. Medical surveillance required. Conditional entry recommended if granted entry to Canada.
For example, applicants may be a “risk” due to a communicable disease that may reactivate, such as inactive tuberculosis.

M3 A health condition(s) is present but is not expected to place an excessive demand on health or social services.

Also, factors as public health in your country of residence can be a reason for a re-med.

It is fairly quick, 3-5 days.

Hi All,

I am AOR 13 Dec 2019 and one of the lot who got PPR from NDVO on 07 Nov 2020. My medical is expiring on 09 Dec 2020 and I have no visibility on whether (1) my medical has been extended or (2) they will ask me to land in Canada before 09 Dec 2020. Any suggestions on how to get this information and can I request medical extension from my side?
I am not in a position to land before 09 Dec as due to personal reasons I need to be present in India for entire December 2020.

They did not ask me to do a re-medical so I am assuming it will be only options 1 or 2 above?
Congratulations!! Are you part of the FSW-O category? Im in India too but my case is in Ottawa. Haven't heard anything. AOR Dec 2019

Hi, I just got my latest GCMS, could you please take a look for me?
It says, I am in a special programme, while I was not in such a program based on the GCMS several months ago. As the GCMS says, my fingerprints are really bad. Plus my med exam is gonna expire soon.
By the way, the notes does not change, the same as last GCMS.
Could you please tell me the meaning of the special programme and the things I should do?
So so many thanks!
that is the quote:

Hi everyone, just saw the details of Counterfoil on the EE account online. Its valid till 30th march 2021. Our medicals were expiring on 13th jan so I presume they would've been extended too upto 30th march. I hope the borders open jan onwards and we can travel. Also noticed that most fields in the account got updated yesterday but dates of eligibility passing etc are clearly incorrect.

Hello all, my medical expired October 30, 2020. I’ve not seen any updates at all to say it has been extended or requesting me to re-do medical. Is this normal? What should I do about this

Yup, Its normal its just the officer haven't checked your file yet or he has already sent it for re-assessment of your medicals.
