Hi there,
I have submitted my citizenship application on November 13th 2018 by regular post but have not received any receipt confirmation from Citizenship department. Question is how long will they take to confirm the receipt of the application ?
Thanks,
Manjinder

yes, you can apply for citizenship without valid passport but you will have to mention the reason of not having valid passport in your citizenship form section 14 B. An example as below:

"I DID NOT HAVE ANY VALID PASSPORT BETWEEN <DATE it expired> TILL <Date you sign the application>. DURING THIS GAP PERIOD, I DID NOT TRAVEL OUTSIDE CANADA."

Hi. Good to know about this. During 2017 I didn't have any valid passport for one month (expired and I couldnt apply) and I specifically mentioned this in the application (that due to work commitments I couldnt apply) and that I did not travel anywhere during this time.

Just for my information and for others who may want to know - how many signatures are needed for a citizenship application?

Thanks!

Thank you for adding to the spreadsheet.
There is an error in my Application Delivered Date in the Spreadsheet. It should be Dec 31, 2018 rather than Jan 31, 2018.
If you could edit it, that would be great.
Thanks.

Hello,

During my eligibility period, I traveled my home country from 8 December 2015 till 18 January 2016. On the way home, my flight had a long lay over (may be around 22 hours) in China and the airline authority offered me complementary hotel accommodation outside of the airport. This required me to get on-arrival visa stamped on my passport at the Chinese airport, though I did not have to pay for it. Now my question is, in the physical presence calculator, do I need to list China as a destination for absence from Canada apart from my home country? Or, I can just list my home country as the only destination for absence from Canada and in the reason section explain why there is a Chinese visa stamped on my passport? Please note that there is a note on physical presence calculator that says -
"If you visited more than one country during the same absence, list the first country in 'Destination' and list the other countries in the 'Reason' field."

I would appreciate your response.

i am not sue if you have to, but it is a legitimate. one more line will not hurt. Add this, there is space for comment.
Thanks for the reply. So, you mean adding explanation for Chinese visa in the "reason" section, and not to add it as a separate destination?
