Deadline to submit documents for renewal of PR on H&C grounds

Hi there,

Here is the scenario we need help with:

You apply to have residency obligations (physical presence) waived based on H&C grounds. In response, CIC send a list of documents they need in order to consider the case and they give you 30 days to submit everything.

Among other documents and proof, they require a travel record from the USA. CIC provided a website with the US Customs and Border Patrol, but when you send in the request, you receive an email back saying it will take 3-6 months for the travel record, so there is no way you can meet the deadline for CIC.

Is it possible to ask CIC for an extension? Or is there another way to deal with this?

yes, you will want to send a case specific enquiry and notify them of the delay. provide the response you received to prove the issue. it's when you ignore the request and don't notify them of issues that they can close your file. if you show them your efforts, they should give you an extension.
