Hi all,

I'm looking at emigrating to Canada as a skilled migrant, without seeking a job offer beforehand.

I have a couple of questions about the way it works once you're in Canada:

- Is there a deadline for finding a job?
- Can it be either myself or my wife gets a job?
- Can the job be part time? Or, if not, can it be full-time for a period and reduce to part time hours?

We are financially comfortable but still want to work and contribute in Canada. We have 2 children and our preference is to work part time to spend quality time with our kids.

Many thanks,

Jamie

There is no deadline for finding a job once you've arrived so your other two questions don't apply.

Thanks for your reply.

So, if we can afford to work part time, is that sufficient in Canada's eyes when we try to go down the citizenship route etc.?

Thanks,

Jamie

working or not working has to do nothing with qualifying for citizenship.

My apologies if all of these questions sound stupid.

So, if I emigrate to Canada with my family under a skilled migrant program, there is no hurry/deadline to find a job, and we can happily live in Canada indefinitely working on a part-time basis?

Thanks again,

Jamie
