Hi,

I have a bit of a silly question about PR application, but I'm just wondering how should I fill dates for PR application that are "on-going". Say for my employment history should I fill the end date of my current employment to the date of signing the application, "Till Date" or leave the field blank, or something else perhaps? Or same thing for my current country of residence for example. What kind of dates do the officers expect to see for these kind of fields? If I leave the fields blank do they think it's a mistake and unintentionally left blank, but if I put the date of signing the application it kind of indicates that the employment may have terminated that day/month which isn't true either. But "Till Date" is kind of who knows what happens after submitting the application. There's no clear instructions how these date fields should be filled for this kind of "on-going" dates.

Thanks!

If your contract has an expiration date then you should annotate that date, if it is permanent then no date (as it has no date).

They expect to see actual and true data. If you don't have a date then you don't put it. No brainer.

Depends where. If it is in the "ongoing" dates then it will most likely be understood "no date" if it was on previous dates they will understand you made a mistake.

Go with the logical answer. Don't overthink.

Correct, if you put in a date then you are unemployed after that date. That is exactly how you put it.

If you have a date you put it, if not you don't.

No one can tell if after dropping your application what will happen in any sense, right? You can get fired tomorrow, or get an extension in your contract or decide to start a sabbatical, or change of job.... as you can make it as complex as you want, go with the easy, straight forward answer....

They can't put all kind of instructions all over the place, so common sense has to be employed. Ask yourself "what is the most common interpretation someone can give to this?". CIC is not a bunch of people looking for complex interpretations in order to find mistakes, they are willing to help and if you employ common sense then you will be safe.

^ Pretty much sums it up - it's not lost on them that CEC applicants would generally still be working in one of the jobs they claimed as work experience, and that there is no "end date" per se.

On IMM 0008, under current country of residence, the form will not validate with a blank "To" date if you're a worker, visitor, or student. Put the (future) expiry date of your current permit here.
