Hi we are getting ready to submit an application. It’s a conjugal application not spousal. Does anyone know approximately how long people are waiting these days? I saw some posts of ppl waiting 2+ years through COVID. Has it gotten better? Thanks!

Approximately 12 months for straight forward applications. Make sure you have a strong case for conjugal and it's well documented in the application.

Additionally, you can check the processing times in the Canada.ca website. It is updated weekly.

I’m not sure what equals a strong case. I’m an older mother of a 5 year old and my health is not good. I definitely want my partner here with me but more than that his son deserves his father to be with him.

It has gotten better since covid. Hard to say without more specifics of your app if you should expect more delays, why is your case conjugal and not married or common law? Have you already applied for a TRV?

Strong case is not about your age or child but about proving that you are in a marriage like relationship and that you face real immigration barriers to getting married and becoming common law. That's the key.
