Hello, my husband is currently a permanent resident of Canada (since 2015). He has since received a diagnosis and we would like to apply for disability in Canada. Is he eligible to apply? Could he loose his permanent resident status? I have not been able to find answers online. Any help is appreciated.

He will have to see if he qualifies. The requirements are very strict in terms of what qualifies as a disability and usually requires you to have almost no savings.

If he qualifies - then yes, he's eligible. No - he cannot lose his PR status. He is fine to apply.
