Hi,

I'm a foreign national currently residing in the US with a worker's visa. Me and my gf are planning to have a road trip to Winnipeg and just plan to stay overnight. We both need to secure a visitor's visa but I don't have any relatives/friends that can serve as a host in that area. I do have some relatives/friends in Toronto but I have no plans to go there. Is it really important to have a host in the place we are going to visit? What can I do in our situation?

Thanks

No, you don't need an invitation letter or documents from your relatives/friends. You would state hotel reservations (not charged to your credit card) + a plan for your visit with expense estimates.

You would also prove your ties to the US (rent contract, employment, finances, etc) to prove you will return to the US + your immigration status in the US + any other ties to your home country
