I entered prior to the ETA requirment on my british passport numerous times without being flagged as a PR. I entered as a visitor for 3-4 weeks each time. The question of PR never came up. My passport number with my COPR and my current passport number are different, that to me would suggest that it doesnt show PR status when scanning passport, when asked i said i was only visiting though if you were saying you are planning on staying i reckon they will dig deeper into immigration history
