Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm. Your son who was driving just showed the expired PR card and a copy of ecase status showing that new card was already approved?

Is it worth taking the risk. I am also waiting for my PR card which is approved but not received yet and I need to travel urgently.

Yes, it was my son who's driving the car. We all showed our pr cards (3 of us) but my son and daughter's cards were expired. Though we have readied the print out of our ecas status renewal as approved, the Officer didn't ask for it so we didn't show it anymore.

Based on what I have read from this forum from our experts here, you can travel via u.s.a if you are coming from visa exempt country or in your case you have a 10 yr visa to u.s.a. So i think you can enter u.s.a anytime. Then just cross the border and ready your documents that will support your PR status in Canada.
