Hi all,

When I was a youngster, I got into a bit of trouble. Nothing serious...but I was in a juvenile house for about a week or so...I cannot remember the charges...but nothing like what is mentioned on the sponsor form 1344...This all happened when I was under 18 and I have never had any troubles since...

I'm 35 now, so I was wondering if this will be a problem...Would my record be erased by now????

Thanks,
FS

Just to clarify...I was charged as a young offender. I think the charge was verbal assault or something silly like that...It's definitely been more than 5 years...will I be okay with sponsoring???

Thanks!
FS

young offender charges do not count. If you have not been charged as an adult you may answer NO on that question in the sponsor qualification section. Besides that record is probably long gone...they purge summary offences.

How do you know that young offender crimes do not count?

That's a relief, though...

Should I include some explanation about the young offender charges?

Thanks,
FS

Nope, not necessary. My husband had a rather...shall we say, interesting, youth. None of that was mentioned, and it didn't affect his ability to sponsor me. Makes for some good stories to tell the grandchildren one day, but pretty much that's the only time they need be mentioned.

Exactly Charlie!

Let's just say I know from first hand experience. Nuff said. If you add an explanation you may actually screw your case more than help it.

Okay, thanks.

I just spoke to my dad and asked if he could remember if I had ever been charged as an adult...NO. The young offender charges were when I was 14-15...long long ago...so no worries...I'm good to go...

Thanks, guys!
