Hi,

We are in New Zealand (my wife is a Canadian citizen, I am a New Zealander) and are currently in the process of putting together my application for Canadian permanent residency. My question is about the location we should be sending police record checks to.

I am required to provide police checks from Australia and New Zealand, as well as a traffic record from Western Australia. On the IMM 5491 document checklist it says my wife must provide my originals of police certificate and clearances for her application to become a sponsor, which is to be sent to Mississauga. However when completing the police check forms it says the information should be released directly to the Sydney Consulate in Australia.

Obviously if the infomration is sent directly to Sydney we don't have a copy and therefore cannot also include the checks in the package sent to Canada with the rest of the application, can you please tell us where they should be sent?

Thanks.

Hi there,
I just recieved my police check back from the AFP in Canberra. I asked that it be mailed directly to me instead of the Consulate in Sydney...too much of a risk that it may get lost. And, they only took around 3 weeks to process it all! I`m not too sure about the traffic history from WA, I needed one for Victoria and ordered it online via the Vic Roads website.
Hope this helps.

your police records searches are to be included with the application to mississauga ontario.
