Criminal Background Question!

I just want to make sure I did this correctly

A week and a half ago I got an email from Ottawa asking for the RPRF, Medicals and the Criminal Background.

I've done and sent the medicals and RPRF and just noted in my email I'm exempt from the FBI clearance since I left the USA a month after my 18th birthday (Been in Canada this whole time)

Is my noting that I am exempt in the email good enough or do I need to do something else to make that clear? All of the documents needed to be sent in before August 8th and so I want to make sure I don't screw this up royally when the finish line is in sight.

If your were still in the US on your 18th birthday...how are you exempt? In CIC's eyes, you could have committed a crime in the one month that you were there.

That is what the email said.

I'd also asked several times on here what I needed to do about my clearance and everyone told me that since I left the US right after my birthday I don't have to do it. . . .

"In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18."


This as well is in the CIC website under Police Certificates.

I went ahead and sent WITH my application just a background check from inside Canada since I've been here the longest. Just hoping I'm not misunderstanding or doing something really stupid.
