When I've arrived to Canada (in 1997) RBC even refused me to open regular bank account
because I did not have a SIN yet (it came in 3 weeks). I just crossed the street and open
an account with CIBC. They offered me a credit card with security deposit.
I described The way to get a first credit card first time over 10 years ago.

Please take in account: credit card annual fee and bank account monthly fees.
In my opinion RBC is most expensive.

From just reading their website RBC seem to have the best offer for new PRs. I am landing on Sunday and I will be setting up a bank account on Tuesday hopefully, I am just wondering for those who have landed already have any had experience with other banks other than RBC and how easy it was to set up an account in the days after landing? I went into a RBC today and found staff to be useless and rude so it has kind of put me off the idea of setting up an account there.

Hi Crillz,

You've just visited one branch of RBC. All branches are different and reflect the branch manager policy.
I have read on insurancehint website all advantages and disadvantages for each bank. But rude emploees could be in any branch any Canadian bank. As usual they are former immigrants like you and I.
You can also apply on Scotia Bank credit Card on the website http://insurancehint.net/ I mentioned before.
