the following reply i received from cic when i asked for application status. i received following reply:
"Your file is currently under review and requires additional verifications. As a result, the assessment period will be outside of our posted processing times.
Unfortunately at this time we are not able to determine when your application will be finalized, but our office will contact you as soon as all verifications are completed, or if any additional information or documents are required.
We appreciate your patience and ask that you keep correspondence with our office to a minimum. "
I am March 9th 2017 AOR, and IP2 since 1st July 2017. Any thoughts?

If you are ip2 since 1st July and they say that your app requires additional verification than most probably you are in security screening. Seniors can verify this.

This probably means that the local visa officer was not satisfied with the screening done by the Central Intake Office, that means either they might have handed the file over for further screening or they might have been doing internal check through Canadian Intelligence.
 
I am at the same position... Standard processing time of 6 months is passed and still security screening is still going on.. Don't know when I application will be finalised....

Can I ask how long it took you to receive a reply from Ottawa?
 
they said the exact same thing for me. Aor march 22. i think we are in SS.
 
In your gcms notes what does the “final” say?

Also could you please tell me how long did it take for you to get a reply from Ottawa?

i messaged ottawa on Nov 8 and got a diff msg:

1. Please note that your application is being processed at the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa as per our regulatory timeline.

2. Please note that we cannot confirm when your file will be ready for finalization.

3. An officer will contact you if further information is required.

Seems like part 1 is what matters and part 2 and 3 are boilerplate statements. Based on part 1 i would think my app is in IP2 but my status is still stating IP1 (Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check)...So i'm unsure if CPC even updates that those status so it can be aligned with their actual status.
 
how do you guys know you are in SS? my notes dont show ss
