Hi,

I am in Quebec on Work permit and fall under Skilled Worker category.

My wife and daughter came here on vissitor Visa which is valid for 6 months and they are not eligible for Health Insurance or medicare card.

For that Purpose, I need to apply for her open work permit and request for the extension of stay of my daughter as long as my stay.

Please provide me the format of the cover letter which I need to submit along with other documents required for Open work permit.

Your best bet would be contact your company, bcoz they filed your WP

you can file the exten for your spouse and kid based on the validity of your TRV and WP

You don't have to provide any specific letter, but if you want you can mention that
you are applying for extn of TRV for your dependents and that time you can opt if you want open work permit
and if your kid needs to attend school then you may also want to apply for open study permit for Elementary Education.

Pl ensure if your stay is not more than 6 months at the time of applying extn for your dependents then most likely
you will not get open work permit for your spouse.

CIC has policy, if foreign worker is going for under 6 months then the dependent SPOUSE will not get open work permit

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

My family is going to stay here for more than 6 months. Since they didn't have Visitor permit as asked for the health insurance, they are not elgibile for health Insurance and my daugher was refused to get an admission in the Gardenerie.

When I spoke withe Immigration person, he advised me to apply for Open work permit of your wife and request for the Extension of stay of my daughter as long as my stay in Montrea.
