I recently completed my diploma in mechanical engineering in India and wanted to change course to degree in computer engineering in Canada.but as this was not possible I was suggested to do a 2 year advance diploma in computers. So after my 2 year advance diploma how many years of bachelor's studies to I need to complete? Does a course credit transfer reduce the time taken to complete bachelor's? So like instead of a 4 year course I jst need to do it in one or two years extra. Plz guide me in reference to this as I am clueless!

It depends on the University that you wish to apply to for your bachelors. In some universities, they will accept the credits from the diploma and hence the total credits to complete the bachelors degree will be less and therefore the total time will be less. That is you would be able to complete it in less than 4 years. However, some universities will not accept all the credits or any at all so it would not have any effect on the time. Also, there are some that have a minimum number of study terms requirement for you to graduate so even if you have the required credits, you would still have to meet the minimum number of study terms requirement to graduate. I would advise you to email to the University that you are interested in to know which approach they follow.
