Hello again!

I received my Australian police certificate back at the end of August. Me and my spouse were going to send out the PR application in September but we were delayed because of needing some other documents. We are soon ready again to send off the app, however we re-read the guide and noticed that the police certificates can not be older than 3 months from when they receive the PR application. I've read from others on this forum who have this similar problem that they have written a letter to put in with their application saying that they are applying for a new police certificate and will send it along afterwards.

My question is, once I receive the new police certificate, do I just send it right to the Mississauga processing office with a detailed letter? (We are applying outland). I also briefly lived in Queensland and had to apply for a traffic history letter that showed I didn't have a driving history according to their records. Would I also have to apply for a new letter or just the police certificate?

It seems like you can apply for a new police certificate, and send your PR application with the expired one saying you will send them a new one later. Theoretically you're supposed to send in a complete application, but it seems that quite often CIC doesn't stick to the rules when it comes to police certificates. Although, if by any chance, a cranky employee looked at your file and sent the whole thing back as incomplete, you can't complain because that's what the rules say. But I haven't really heard of that happening.

Usually, it is recommended to send additional documents to your VO after you have gotten Sponsorship Approval. The reason is that when you get Sponsorship Approval, they will give you a File Number. Without a number, it will be time consuming and difficult for them to attach your police certificate to your application just by name.

Not sure about the traffic history thing - hopefully someone else can chime in!

Thank you Kayaker for your input! Very much appreciate it!

I would hate to have to wait for another Australian police check as my application is pretty much ready to go and this would delay it even further.
