Country Specific Requirements - India

Hello all,

I am currently helping my parents put together their out-land sponsorship application, but am a bit stumped regarding the country specific requirements for India. As I understand it the following documents are required:

1) Birth or baptismal certificate (We only have baptismal)
2) Old School Records (We only have Matriculation records)
3) Voter ID (We do not have this)

As this is clearly not an exhaustive list of identity documents, I am wondering if someone could provide me examples of alternative identity documents that could satisfy the requirements made by IRCC.

In addition, I am a bit hesitant about sending original documents (due to the difficulty in replacing them, especially from India). Could certified copies be sent instead?

include copy of the documents and don't send original except IRCC specifically request for original.

Thank you Wakki, for your quick response. I had actually visited the thread you provided, but was still a bit confused.

So now as I understand it, if the birth is registered late, only then you would have to send original documents. My dad (Principal Applicant) does not have his birth certificate, so is it OK if we just send in the copy of the baptismal certificate, matriculation certificate and Aadhar? He says he also has his PAN card.

In your experience, would this satisfy IRCC?

YES......a copy of Baptismal Certificate will satisfy IRCC........copy of the matriculation certificate and Aadhar will be nice to include.

accompanying you to Canada or not)

• Birth certificates issued in this country: If a birth is registered late, include the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
  • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
  • Voter's ID card.
