I applied for P.R. Card on 29th September, 2004. And received "Confirmation of Permanent Residence" on 31st May 2009.
Between these dates I visited Canada on Visitors VISA two times, and stayed total of 351 days. After getting "Confirmation of Permanent Residence"
I started visiting and residing in Canada from 29th September, 2009. My question is , will the 351 days which I have stayed in Canada between My Application for
P.R. and its subsequent "Confirmation" be counted towards 'Residency Obligation' of P.R. status?

somancm is anxious to know about it!!

Your PR counted on 31st May 2009. During your stay as visitor status on 2004 to 30th May 2009 is not counted. :)

The days before you became a PR cannot be counted towards your PR resdiency count (only the days after you became a PR are counted).

The rules are different for citizenship (I think this is where you probably heard about the "days before PR rule") and you are allowed to include a certain number of days from before you became a PR for your citizenship residency count.

But again, for PR residency purposes, you can only count the days after you became a PR.

Since the Letter which I Received from Canadian Govt. which has been Titled as "Confirmation of Permanent Residence"

it is felt that I have been granted -may be provisional - "Permanent Resident" status, as soon as my duly completed Application for the same
is received by Appropriate Canadian Authorities. Hence since that day onwards, all my days of actual stay in Canada, even though on "Visitors Visa",
will get counted towards Residency Obligation for a person of P.R. Status.

Please clarify on the point.

Very anxious

No - there is no provisional status and you can't count the time spent in Canada on a visitor's visa towards your PR residency requirements. It doesn't matter when you received your CORP (confirmation of permance residence).

Again, only the residency days accummulated after you actually landed and became a PR count.

Thank you scylla, for the reply!
May I know whether, those days (Those Days of Residence in Canada prior to obtaining PR status) get counted towards
Stay Requirements for Citizenship?

Yes, they get counted at a 50% rate but you can only count time that is within the last 4 years previous to applying for citizenship so if you wanted to apply now for example, time spent in Canada before August 8th 2008 would not count at all. Time spent after August 8th 2008 until you became PR would count at the rate of 1 day for citizenship for every 2 days spent on visitor visa.

Note it only to a maximum credit of a year for time prior to becoming a PR.

That is right. It is impossible to get 1095 days in 4 years just with days that count at 50%. Therefore, the earliest somebody could apply after getting PR would be 2 years. This would be if they were in Canada on a temporary visa for a full 2 years before getting their PR and they stayed in Canada for the full 2 years after getting PR. Then they would have 2 years temporary stay counting at 50% or 365 days plus another 730 days for staying 2 years after they got PR so 1095 days total within the 4 year period.
