Hello,

I received some excellent information the last time I posted, so I thought I'd post here again.

Here is a link to my original post:

My wife will be applying for permanent residency from within Canada, likely in July (we're still in Korea at the moment). As part of her application, she will also be applying for an Open Work Permit. However, she's nervous she might be denied. The OWP seems to be the simplest/only way for her to maintain legal status while waiting for her PR application to be processed (besides renewing her visitor's visa, which could also be denied).

I thought the OWP was pretty straightforward. On the CIC website, under "Who can apply for an open work permit" one of the options is "applied for permanent residence in Canada". And of course we would fill out the appropriate forms and pay the necessary fees.

With that said, is there a chance they would deny her OWP?

Thanks in advance!

Theres always a chance... its rare but it happens

The OWP would only be refused if she has no status in Canada when she applies, doesn't pay the full fees, submits an incomplete OWP app or has the PR app is returned. Otherwise, it will be approved.
