Correct visa application for my wife (who is currently living outside Canada)

Hello everyone,

I have been living in Canada since last three years on a study permit which is valid till 2022. I got married this year when I visited India and am planning to bring my wife into Canada around June next year.

I was hoping if you could advice me on the type of visa she should apply from India: would open work permit (OWP) + temporary resident visa (TRV) be the right application enabling her to come and stay in Canada ?

Any advice and assistance is appreciated.

When does your study program end?

When will you apply for a PGWP?
 
Thank you for the response Bryanna. Could you do me another favor : What specific application form do I need for SOWP application. Is it the same as that of a regular work-permit application. Is there some document checklist file specific to SOWP application? I browsed through the following link:

but I feel here, much of the information is concerned with regular work-permit and PGWP applicants. So far, I have not been able to find something exclusive to SOWP.

It is the same application form for a regular work permit.

It would help if you share:
1. When does your study program end?

2. When would you be eligible to apply for a PGWP (assuming you will be eligible for one)?

I have just started my PhD- my program completion date is 31st August, 2022. After that, I would be eligible for a PGWP.

Okay. In that case, her chances of a SOWP approval could be higher than that for spouses of other study programs. Nonetheless, she must prove she has strong ties to India
