What's the average waiting time for COPR from London? My correspondence says it's up to 4 weeks, is that about right or have people received it earlier/later?

Answered you in my post. Slightly different case, I'm British passport but going through Ottawa and Hong Kong. Took 2 weeks to receive my COPR.

I guess it depends on how busy the London consulate it then, seems like your case is pretty similar to mine if I look at the time frames. nice when that happens.

I'm having more of an issue as to when i actually 'land' and at which point i have to declare what I'm taking with me

can't seem to find anyone who can give professional advice and the CBSA phone line isn't open at easy times for me.

The way I understand it is once you land you see an immigration Officer and inform him/her that you are landing and show your passport and COPR and visa if applicable. The immigration officer will ask you to go through to the other immigration desk where you will complete some forms for your permanent residence card and then you'll collect your luggage. Once you have your luggage you will need to go to 'Anything to Declare' (that's what it's called in the UK, it may be called something different in Canada, I'm not sure) and show the officer(s) your declaration information of what you have packed and then you're done.

From what I've heard it's a pretty relaxed process.

From what I've heard it's a bit more complicated than that. Are you shipping goods over of just going with what you're travelling with?

Nah, I don't have a great deal of possessions and stuff I do have will be staying at my parents house in the UK. I'll just be taking clothes mainly.

In that case I think your process is going to be a lot simpler than mine. I've got a whole household to ship over

Spoke to the CBSA yesterday evening and spoke to them about my options and they've let me know what I can and can't do so I'm sorted now. We worked that as I don't really know what I'll be travelling with at a later date I just go in this time and declare minimum goods and possessions and when my wife, as a returning citizen comes in she declares everything else as hers.

The one thing to be aware of is that as a new resident there is no limit on value of goods, where as a returning citizen has a limit of CAD 10k per item. So I'll be declaring some of our more expensive things.

I'll be landing in Vancouver

That's good, at least you've got some proactive feedback.
