Hey all, wondering if someone could help me out regarding a few questions to do with COPR.

I received my COPR this week (WOO!), but having read through it, it posed a couple of questions that i am unsure about:

- Does your passport expiry date affect COPR's? My passport expires Aug 2016 and on my COPR under 'Application Details' it states Issued Date: 2015/03/16 and Expiry Date: 2016/02/19. Does that mean my PR expires on Feb 19 2016, or that i have to activate my COPR by Feb 19 2016?

- Has anyone activated their COPR at Niagara Falls? Do you have to cross to the US side of Rainbow Bridge and be 'rejected'? (as I had to do with my BOWP).

- I've never ordered a new passport before, does your passport number change when you renew? (it's a UK passport)

Hopefully these questions make sense, thanks for taking the time!

Once you land I believe your PR card is valid for 5 years mate.

It looks like you have to land before the expiry date (19 Feb 2016). Personally, I just went and landed as soon as my COPR cane through just to get it out of the way and done with...

There are lots of threads on here with landing at Rainbow Bridge, in fact there is one on the front page today. We landed at Coutts but had to travel to the US side of the border, explain that we wanted to turn around and go back to Canada for PR landing. They gave us the administration rejection slip which we took back to cbsa for our landing

Good luck mate and enjoy the day :)

Thanks for the info, i was worried they would only grant you PR for the length of your passport validity, hopefully that's not the case!

Might try and head down to Niagara this week and flagpole.

After a bit of Googling, it appears a UK passport number changes when you renew, will this affect my PR card that i assume will have the passport number i applied with? Has anyone had any experience with renewing their passport that expires during the validity of the PR card? Do you have to inform CIC of your new passport number? What's the process for doing so?

More questions!

You don't need to inform CIC about your new passport once you get the PR card. The only thing you need to do is carry your expired and renewed passport, whenever you are travelling outside of the country.
