COPR activation

Hi. I am currently in Detroit. I received COPR 3 weeks back which is valid till June 2024. I was planning to make a trip to Toronto since I have to meet someone and will be back in Detroit after that. I assume my PR will get activated at that point once I cross the border to travel to Toronto. I was planning a permanent relocation to Canada towards the end of Feb, 2024. Can someone please let me know if there will be any issues in this situation, since my permanent relocation to Canada will happen at a later date even though my PR will get activated once I travel to Toronto?

What you are planning to do by visiting temporarily is called soft-landing. Once you land with your CoPR and cross the border, you officially get the PR status. You just have to make sure you prepare a goods to follow list and share it with the officer once you cross the border with your CoPR as you aren't moving in permanently just yet.
