I am a canadian citzen ,married to a wife with syrian nationality, and I have two kids who are canadian citzens as well, been married for 7 years and residing outside canada all the time. We have received the visitor visa for my wife, an we areplanning to go for 3 weeks. Pleaselet me know what is the process in order to apply for her to obtain residency , I am planning to establish residence by renting a place , buying a car, establishing a bank accountfor myself, but I would like to leave here there with the kids and return to work in Dubai, while she resides in canada. Pleaseletme know if this can be done and what documents are required in order to do this.

If you are not going to be remaining in Canada, then your only option is to apply to sponsor your wife outland. Note that she is not allowed to move to Canada as a visitor or live here - all she can do is visit. Filing the outland application also will not allow her to live in Canada while the application is being processed - once again, all she can do is visit. She will need to continue to extend her visitor status while in Canada to ensure she keep her status in Canada legal. It's possible extensions may be refused - in which case she would need to leave. If an interview is required as part of the application, it will be held outside of Canada (in a country close to Syria). She will not be able to work and will not qualify for health care coverage while waiting for her application to be processed.

You can find the outland application package here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
