Hi Everyone,

I have a question about my work experience. So I've been working for 6 months now. The job can be classified as NOC B. However, I got my job through agency (one year contract). It means that I'm working for company A, but im not an employee of company A(not on its payroll) . The agency pays me, and on my T4, it also says the agency.

I don't think this is self-employment, because i still get T4 from the employer(agency). I consulted with an immigration professional, she was 100% sure that my situation was not eligible to apply EE under CEC.

Where on CIC website indicates that? and is what she said true?

Thank you all for your help!!!

A letter from the company will do - though they arent always willing to write a letter. I'm sure your agency will write that you are on assignment to the company.

Write a cover letter with your application. If your request to get a letter from the company met a rebuff, include the email in your cover letter.

Doesn't hurt to seek another IP's opinion too...

Thank you so much for your reply!!! I definitely should gather more info before get panicky.

You need to find another immigration "professional", because this is definitely not self-employment.
Thank you for your reply. im starting to doubt her professionalism now. But is my situation (work experience wise) eligible to apply EE? Based on your knowledge.

You need a year of work Canadian work experience to apply under CEC, so you're not eligible yet.

Depending on your foreign work experience you might be eligible under the FSW program.

Finally, fire your consultant, your work experience is valid.

Thank you so much. yea, I'm not eligible yet, because it's not one full year yet. I definitely have to go for other consultants now. ;)

No, it is not self-employment, and yes, it is eligible under CEC. (It is not eligible under some of the Ontario PNP programs, but you should be able to rely on your consultant to know the difference, right?)

Your employer is the agency, your client is Company A. Typically in this scenario, you would need to get letters of reference from BOTH your employer and client. Lots of people have done this and succeeded.
