HI when you send a container to Canada by sea can you anyone advise if we have to pay anything there?

once it arrives thanks

My wife used to handle shipping for her company, and she told me the best and easiest thing to do is check with a freight forwarding company to find out what you need to do to import a container to Canada. I was going to ship our stuff back, but it was quite expensive, so we decided to sell or give everything away.

I'd suggest checking the total cost to get your stuff from point A to B. Then check to see how much it would cost to buy new things in Canada. Compare the pricing and the hassle, and make your decision.

Best of luck!

CBSA check sea cargo at random. If your cargo has been selected, then you would have pay to an inspection charge.

It was not hassle for me at the time of customs clearance because I lived two or three blocks away from the local CBSA office. I disagree to rely only on the information provided by the freight forwarding company. I would advise to check with CBSA also.

I'd also suggest to see if your new Canadian home can fit the items before you brought them from your home country.

thank you for your replies

Actually, freight forwarders will already have all the information required to import. Perhaps it would be prudent to double check with CBSA to confirm...

I just think it's easier to let the freight forwarder handle everything...which they will do...my wife used them all the time and never had issues...
