Thanks Laura !!

Excuse my ignorance but how does one go about contacting MP? What kind of information do I need to have? Call the MP`s office or go in person to the office?

Hi
I first emailed my MP and asked if it was possible to arrange a meeting
The secretary called me back and set up the meeting.
You will need as much information about you application as you can;-
Date received by CIC
Date CIC started processing
If CIC requested any further information and when
If they did request more information, when was it sent
Your Client ID number
Date of Birth
Address

I think that was it.

I was lucky, my MP was very helpful and sent they an inquiry as I was there. From reading the forum I have heard that not all MP's are as helpful

Good Luck !!

Thank you for the quick reply. That was very helpful.

Hi

I called them and was told they could send me a request form and would be convinient to send. I did however choose to go in person. It helps to build your comfort with the case worker. It may not speed up your CIC process but it will speed up the return call from MP.

I recco going in person if you can. If not, over the phone is fine too :)

Congratulations on getting some word about your AIP from CIC.
You never know what you're going to find out if you just keep calling huh?
I would like to hear what your MP finds out.

Anticipation

Hi Anticipation,

So I did finally hear. We were in a huge dillemma as to which VO our file went to from BUF - no correspondence ever since closure. The MP's office managed to locate VO. Also, we were told my husband has been approved as a positive candiate and all checks complete. Our medicals expire in 1.5 months but since all else is done (background checks pending which is the major glitch - time consuming) they might extend validity in some cases.

MP said at least another 3 months for BG checks and that If I dont hear then, i should call again. Im hopeful its sooner though..

I did just get AIP, but do have to do over my medicals. They are well over a year old and did not fit within the new policy. That's okay. Just glad that CIC has really started to pick up the pace on the applications. Should have waited until my application was more complete before going to the doctor. Next time I'll know better. Only, I don't plan in immigrating again!
