Confusion - Visitor Extension

My pgwp and TRV are expiring on end of Jan 2017. I applied for visitor extension last week.
I am awaiting ITA soon, maybe in Jan/Feb (460 points)
If I dont get a reply for an extension before my valid status expires that is Jan end, can I live here under implied as visitor extension will be still under process, or I have to go back?
Also if I receive the extension, do I have to do anything like make an exit and come back (maybe USA as its closest) or I can just live without worrying about the exit and re-entry.
If I get an ITA maybe in Feb/March, I will be either under implied or under visitors extension, in any case can I do my medicals for PR?
Also if the ITA was received under implied/visitors extension status, when I submit docs for PR can I apply for work permit aswell or I have to wait out for PR on visitors?
Any advise will be greatly appreciated folks.

NO, YOU CAN JUST LIVE HERE

YES, YOU CAN DO MEDICALS IRRESPECTIVE OF YOUR STATUS

NO, YOU HAVE TO WAIT. UNLESS YOU GET AN ITA BEFORE YOUR WP EXPIRES YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR A BOWP
