Hi,
Just wanted to give a heads up and ask if others have insight on the following. My step-daughter is applying for Canadian University from China. I had a question about the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, China website forms so I called CIC, here in Canada. After a wait of only about 15 minutes, the person responding said the requirements necessary to follow were ALL on the CIC website. When I said that the Beijing embassy website (STU Study Kit Guide - with forms) requirements don't require a couple of forms that the CIC website does, this person basically said that providing advice on country specific information was "out of their jurisdiction" ! However I have read info on both websites and the Beijing Canadian embassy website essentially implies that all the requirements to apply for a study permit are there on their own site.
I am confused. It makes me think that my best alternative is to make sure both the China requirements AND the CIC website requirements are met. It is confusing because some of the Chinese forms are different for "Family Composition" but contain similar information to numbered CIC website forms (e.g. one titled "Family Information". What does the Beijing Canadian embassy do, copy the information onto the correct CIC form ? I doubt it. So why would the CIC phone representative tell me to basically ignore the country specific requirements. Why would they say that? I saw another post on this forum from a Senior Member stating that a person should ONLY follow the country-specific requirements. Should I complain about this CIC response? They acted like I was wasting their time with useless questions and were very terse and rude. Really I am just looking for clarity.
