Dear All,

I need some help regarding my work experience. I am a mechanical engineer and worked in the industry for 10 years but for last one and half years I am working in the University as teacher. I am applying through express entry and read that my work experience has to be continuous and I need at least 3 years of experience to avail the points to reach threshold.

Although, I was doing lot of consultancy during my industrial work like educating the trainees but it was not full time. I was also working part time as visiting faculty during that time which amounts to about 15 hours per week. Now I am not sure how exactly my experience letter should be spelled for me to qualify as continuously working in education sector for last three years.

I shall be thankful for any feedback.

Regards

Your understanding is not correct. You only need one year of full time continuous work experience (or the equivalent in part-time) to qualify under the FSW program. After that you can add all work experience even if they are gaps.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that. But my question was about the points claimed, as to claim all points for work experience, I understand that I shall need three years work experience continuous

Like I said, your understanding is incorrect.

Maybe I could not explain my question clearly. I meant to say that when I calculate my points through CRS points calculator through CIC, it has a question that how many years of work experience you in last 10 years and in the dropdown menu, there are three options, 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years. It also says that it should be continuous and only in one occupation. Now my problem is that I have work experience with two different NOC codes.

I understand what you're saying but you're failing to understand the difference between the requirements to be eligible under FSW and the requirements to claim points for work experience.

You can claim points with two different NOC's.

Btw the question in the CRS tool does not mention continuous.

You can claim points with two different NOC's.

Thanks a lot. That clarifies my confusion. It was bothering me for over a month.

Cheers
