Hi Guys,

I am in big confusion i am all set to submit my TRV application which is expiring on 31st Oct. Got to know that once you do landing here and travel to your home country before getting your PR card your TRV gets void and you will not be able to enter Canada even though you have valid TRV !! Is this true?

In that case it doesn't make any sense to apply for TRV as i dont have any plans to travel for next 6 months.

Is my understanding correct ? Please correct me if wrong.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

To best of my knowledge I don;t think you can use TRV after landing.Basically after you land your status is Permanent Resident. You can only enter Canada back with that status. No previous Visa's will work to enter Canada. However if you have plans to go out of the country before your PR card, you can ask for travel document at CIC office near you and reenter Canada with those documents. I hope this helps. Thanks!

Hi,
your visa, work permit, study permit... are void when your land. You can't use those things anymore. If you want to travel after landing, you have to apply for a travel document.

Thanks Kichha.

I hope travel document is the only option if i have to travel back in that scenario.

Wonderclicks.
As already stated, as a landed immigrant (PR), you cannot now hold any valid visa for Canada.
However, if it has not been struck out of your passport as voided, you *may* be able to fake your way onto a Canada-bound flight, as long as you don't declare yourself as a PR to the airline. This is probably technically illegal but people have been able to get away with it. Caveat Emptor....

Yes, your understanding is correct.

Your TRV will be voided and trying to use it would be dangerous as the Passport and TRV is scanned, so all information related to it will become available to the CBSA officer at the POE.

Anyway, this can be found by using google:

If you already landed you are not eligible for TRV. If you do get a TRV before landing then your TRV will be valid from the moment it is printed to the moment you land (when it will be voided).
