Hello,
So I read that people who have children in common are not affected by conditional permanent residence.
What does that mean?
My girl-friend and I have been living for a year now and we just had our first daughter.
She is planning on sponsoring me but how does that affect me? Do I get my PR right away?

You will get your PR once the process is complete and you land. The only difference is that your PR will not have condition 51 on it.

Condition 51 doesn't mean a person doesn't "get PR right away". All it means is the applicant is required to live with their sponsor spouse for 2 years after landing as a pr. This helps reduce the likelihood of someone applying for PR only to get PR and move to canada. CIC assumes a person who has a child with their sponsor or has been in a relationship for more than 2 years before applying is not applying for PR just to get pr. that is why they are exempt from this rule.
